Abbot In Second…

http://www.worcsracing.com/docs/Pro_Riders/Homepage_Picture/abbott.jpg

Destry Abbot, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s wicked driver, notched second place at the final event of the AMA National Hare and Hound race of the season in Lucerne Valley, California. During the seventh round event, four of the top 10 spots were taken home by Kawasaki.

Watching Abbot at the tracks during the dusty and raging start, he was trailing in fourth place. But he managed to get through the dark and dusty track like a heating Mitsubishi Diamante!

“When Destry came in for his first pit following the first 40-mile loop, the only thing he said to us was that the dust was really bad,” says Off-Road Supervisor Jason Smigel.

“The dust was so bad and I knew before the race that whoever got the start was going to have a great chance at winning,” said Abbott. “I really like the second loop and pushed it pretty hard to see if I could make up any time. I knew the last loop would be really hard to make up all the time I lost early, so I decided to play it safe and ride a good pace."

“I felt really good and the bike was working great. I’m looking forward to next year and starting all over again. I know I’ll be ready,” Abbot added.

Rossi Switches To Bridgestone

 http://www.cyclenews.com/photos/Rossi.jpg
After being kept wondering whether he will finally get Bridgestone tires for the next season, Valentino Rossi announced that he will be using Bridgestone tires for the next season.  His disappointment with his Michelin tires reached a new high as during qualifying for the race in Valencia where he lost his second place spot to Pedrosa.

"I have no words," said the seven-time champion.  "For sure, after today, I can say that it’s not just a matter of misfortune. I did everything I could in order to be on the grid today, because I wanted to try and confirm my second place in the championship, which I think I deserved. I was riding very fast, even though my bike was not perfect. When I got into 14th place, I told myself that my task was done, but I was feeling quite good and I wanted to try to pass some more riders. Unfortunately however I felt that I had a problem with my bike and I was forced to come in. Now we are checking the data to understand what happened, because at the moment it’s not so clear. I will need 20 days to fix my hand and then I will be back in Jerez to start my winter testing programme."

The driver whose bike seemed to be subpar compared to his competitors unlike reliable Mercedes muffler retired early in the race and Pedrosa was able to steal the second spot in the drivers' championship from Rossi.

Yamaha, Rossi's team apologized to the Italian after the race.  Davide Brivio, team director for Yamaha said:  "We would like to say sorry to Valentino because he made a great effort to race with his broken hand.  Unfortunately a technical problem stopped him from getting the second place and we're very sad about this. Our engineers are doing everything they can now to understand what happened today, because Valentino felt that he had a problem and that the engine was not working properly. From our first analysis we are not yet sure what the problem was, so we have decided to send the engine back to Japan for further investigation."

This season may have been unlucky for Rossi but I hope that he does better next year.

The AMA Supermoto Victory happens At The Galveston

This was the first ever AMA Supermoto Victory that happened in The Moody Gardens in Galveston. Cassidy Anderson’s Honda Car was designed by Troy Lee and it was the first-ever 450 Primer Supermoto which won the round eight AMA Supermoto Championship. Ales Hlad, KTM HMC Motoracing, racer also had to the chance to pick up the M&R AMA Supermoto Unlimited competition while Rodney Taplin took the win at the Hot Wheels AMA Supermoto Lites class with his motor designed by Troy Lee as well.

"This win is worth everything I have been through this year. It has been an up and down year with some good rides, but a lot of bad lucks as well. To take this win feels like redemption for myself. I have been training hard and trying to improve my riding and this win is definitely the best pay off I could of hoped for,” remarked Anderson.

Bulgaria’s Hlad was able to win the AMA Supermoto. He led the 15 laps en route to his first-ever AMA Supermoto Unlimited victory on American soil. Temecula, California’s Kurt Nicoll playing for the HMC KTM finished only second place while John Lewis, his teammate ranked on third.

Hlad said, "I liked this race. I really did not know what to expect being in America for the first time. so I am happy to have this opportunity and win this race. I am excited for Morongo next weekend and I just want to learn as much as I can and get better as the AMA series comes to an end."

Troy Lee led the Hot Wheels AMA Supermoto Lites main event. Adam Cini of the LA Fuels Husqvarna, Graves Yamaha's Brandon Currie as well as Rodney Taplin, of Austrailia was able to follow Pingree on the opening lap. The motor racers did not have the Dodge dash trim as a part of their vehicles.

"This was one of the best feelings I have ever had. I am from Australia and it's a dream to come to the USA and win an AMA race. I want to thank everyone at Troy Lee Designs Honda for giving me a chance to race. Unfortunately I will not be in Morongo next weekend as I have a race back in Australia,” said Taplin.

Kawasaki’s Nathan Woods Victorious At The WORCS Series!

Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Nathan Woods notched the victory WORCS series' last round! He finished at the top with his fourth win of the season at Honolulu MX in Taft, Calif. Woods’ teammate Ricky Dietrich gave an exceptional performance as he stepped on the podium in third place. The race ended in dramatic fashion with an awesome finish as the Monster Kawasaki team safeguarded their victory up to the finish. The first place was secured tightly like how the Dodge grille guard does it right!

“The course for the off-road sections was very hard pack with a lot of square edges and I knew on the first lap many would be cautious so I went for it,” said Woods. “I knew I had to win to make anything happen for the championship, but I couldn't control what was behind me, only in front of me.”

“This year has had its ups and downs but we stuck it out and almost finished on top,” Woods proclaimed. “I fell short at times but came out of each race knowing I did my best.”

His teammate Dietrich ran a steady race and could have been the spoiler in the championship race but he ran short on time in catching the second-place rider.

“I kind of started off a little bit slower, but around the halfway mark, I was starting to pick up the pace and put in some really good lap times. I was really happy with how this race went because I walked away feeling really good. I definitely feel ready to come back out next year and win,” says Dietrich.

Tyler Bright Receives An Interview After His Race

Tyler Bright receives an interview after he raced representing Foremost Insurance/Carolina Xpress/Suzuki during the Toyota AMA Arenacross Series. The racing happened at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y., and he won the first-ever AMA Arenacross class main event.

Bright has proven his worth. Imagine, he became interested in motoring at a very young age. Maybe he also became interested in car parts like Dodge headlight covers but for a 17-year-old with not-so-resounding amateur racing accolades, there are many who see so much potential in this kid.

Here are few of the interviews given to Tyler Bright as I found it on motorsports.com:

Question:
“You pulled off a bit of a Toyota AMA Arenacross Series 'shocker' win this past Saturday in Albany. Talk about that.”

Bright:
"Up to this point my parents, my close friends - everybody I know - was telling me 'You can do it!' Gavin Gracyk, who I train with a lot, was saying the same thing. So at Albany I just put my head down and was able to beat everybody out front. When I was there (leading) I just kept telling myself to breath. Then I went to lap Brock (Sellards) and he wouldn't get out of my way, which was a little intimidating. When I finally won it was the greatest feeling ever. I know I can win now. I've won once, which means I can do it again."

Question:
One key aspect to your victory is your relationship with Jim Neese. How important has Neese been to your motocross career?

Bright:
"Oh man, ever since I was a kid racing the local races I always stood along the fence and watched Jim race. Him and guys like Kevin Walker. I always looked up to Jim knowing he's won and done real well. So when we started to work together he was able to show me where you make up time in arenacross - whoops and corners. And in 10th of seconds. Jim's taught me where to make up time and where to relax. He's definitely been a big part of my success."

Question:
What goals have you set for yourself this season, Tyler?

Bright:
"Well, me and my mechanic, Isaiah Murth, have known each other since we were kids growing up in Lexington (N.C.). We've always had a great bond, which is real important between a racer and his mechanic. We sat down before the season started and he said, 'Dude, if you get a good start, you can win. I'm not lyin', you can win.' So my goal was that I knew I could get in the top five, but to win was going to be crazy - which makes Albany that much more amazing."

Michelin Shows Promising Developments

http://www.windsofchange.net/Hayden.JPG

I have been engrossed with MotoGP due to the fast bikes and the talent of the drivers. Recently, MotoGP drivers were at Sepang practicing for next season.  Tire manufacturer Michelin showed signs of resurgence as it provided high quality tires to its riders in the Sepang tests.

Nicky Hayden driving for Repsol Honda Team posted the fastest time on qualifying tires.  He broke the lap time set by his teammate Danni Pedrosa at the Malaysian Grand Prix last October.  Colin Edwards driving for Yamaha Tech 3 also lapped inside Pedrosa's time when he made his run on qualifying tires.  Furthermore, Edwards set a time faster than Pedrosa's using race tires.

Michelin is obviously happy with these developments.  Jean-Philippe Weber, Michelin's director of motorcycle racing had this to say at the end of the test runs:  "We're happy with the three days and it was great to do a lot of work with our new riders. The data and information we gained here will be very important in helping us work towards the first tests of 2008 here in January. Our new riders all made excellent progress with their lap times and proved that they are extremely motivated."

"We had new tires to test during this session, plus we also wanted to try the same tire types that worked so well at Valencia last month at a different racetrack. At the moment the tires we are working on are logical developments of our latest tires, though we did try out some new compounds that worked well. Nicky also tested a new 16-inch rear, though he focused mostly on our 16.5," he added.

Next season, Valentino Rossi will be running on Bridgestone tires.  Would he regret switching to Bridgestone now that Michelin tires are becoming more and more competitive?  The next season holds the answer and we can only wait.

Biaggi Signs Up With GMB Sterilgarda

http://www.max-biaggi.com/image/foto/max_superbike1_G.jpg

One of the most talented bike rider was out of a ride for the next SBK season just weeks ago.  Max Biaggi who was known for hi stint in MotoGP and now in Superbike now has a team for the 2008 season.  He recently signed with GMB Sterilgarda.

Biaggi used to ride for Alstare Suzuki but after issues about his sponsorship, the team let him go. But next year, he will be riding a Ducati after he joined the privateer team to the surprise of many.  Many said that Biaggi is best suited for a team like Alstare Suzuki instead of GMB Sterilgarda.  Biaggi though pointed out that he will ride for any team as he is a racer.

The driver has this to say in a recent interview:  "It looks like you guys will be stuck with me for another year! I have been able to make an agreement with the GMB Ducati team and I am happy to be back next year.  I have a good feeling about being team-mates with Ruben Xaus and I think he likes the fact too. Speaking from my point of view I think this rider combination can be very good."

Biaggi may become a stronger competitor next season as he is expecting to have a good support team.  "It seems a good opportunity to me," said Biaggi. The team has guaranteed we'll have high-level technicians and the structure is growing, considering that next year the team will have two riders."

Biaggi also divulged that he had been dreaming about riding for Ducati saying:  "Unfortunately we won't be testing at the end of November in Qatar, but we hope to be on track within the first week of December at Vallelunga or Valencia. I am motivated for this new adventure and riding a Ducati has always been my dream!"

Kawasaki’s Abbott Earns Best EnduroCross Finish

Destry Abbott does it again! Monster Energy Kawasaki star driver finished the AMA National Endurocross Series in a dramatic fashion. He went way beyond other contenders as fast as an Acura car with the best Acura valve cover gasket! He earned his best career EnduroCross with his 7th that took place at a fierce race in the Orleans Arena.

“I felt my speed was pretty good and I definitely felt like I had the chance to be in the top five,” said Abbott. “It was a good day overall since making it to the main event is very tough.”

“I had a second-row start and my plan was to take my time and hopefully sneak around the inside but the guys in front of me held the first turn pretty tight,” said Huffman. “In the first rock pile, I saw that some riders had gotten held up so I was going to take my time, but I got taken out myself. It was a little frustrating but that’s how this type of racing goes.”

In 2008, the AMA Maxxis National EnduroCross Series will get bigger to eight rounds with Las Vegas hosting the season opener on July 5.
